This is a collection of affordable houses in an abandoned neighborhood near the lake. The development is near the end of a Metra train line. The houses feature Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). The SIPs make the house energy efficient and can be assembled quickly on the site, and as they are factory made, they are a high quality material. These are the first “permitted” SIPs in Chicago.
The development won the 2005 Richard H Driehaus Outstanding Non-Profit Real Estate Development Award.
