This is a collection of affordable houses in an abandoned neighborhood near the lake. The development is near the end of a Metra train line. The houses feature Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). The SIPs make the house energy efficient and can be assembled quickly on the site, and as they are factory-made, they are a high-quality material. These are the first “permitted” SIPs in Chicago.
The development won the 2005 Richard H Driehaus Outstanding Non-Profit Real Estate Development Award.
